Udupi, Feb 11: A person accidentally drowned in Madhwa Sarovar, which serves as holy pond of Sri Krishna Math where a number of rituals are performed periodically.

It is surmised that the victim would have drowned in the pond at around 4 am on Tuesday, February 11. The deceased has been identified as Capt G Sridharan (62).

Sridharan was a tourist of Chennai origin. It is suspected that he would have ventured into Madhwa Sarovar for taking bath and slipped there. He perhaps could not swim and hence suffocated to death.
