Bantwal, Feb 3: It is presumed that Tasleem, whose lifeless body was found in an Innova car that was found parked near Shantinagar, Sagri, in Sajipe Munnur village in the taluk, was kidnapped after his release from Kalaburagi prison on bail a few days back. Talseem had been named as an accused in the robbery conducted at Arun Jewellers located with Bunder police station at Mangaluru and jailed. He had recently secured bail in the case.
It is believed that a rival gang caught hold of him upon his release from the jail, and the gang brought him here in a car. As per information, a case of kidnap was lodged in Kalaburagi police station after he went missing.
Tasleem was also named as the main accused in the murder of Kalia Rafiq in Ullal during 2017. The investigators have to find out whether Tasleem was eliminated to avenge the murder of Kaliq Rafiq or for some other reason. The police believe that this murder possibly is the handiwork of contract killers.
Udupi district superintendent of police Vishnuvardhan, additional SP Vikram Amte, and Mangaluru district crime intelligence bureau inspector Cheluvaraju, visited the spot.
Bantwal police circle inspector T Nagaraj, town station sub-inspector Avinash, and other police personnel along with finger print experts undertook investigation. The mortal remains have been sent to Wenlock Hospital Mangaluru for postmortem.
