Daijiworld.com in 20th year: One million unique visitors, Rs 20 cr in charity

Daijiworld.com

Mangaluru / Dubai, Jan 14: The Makara Sankrati day, January 14, is one of the most emotional days of my life, and for the entire Daijiworld family. When I started a small and amateur website on this day back in 2001, I never imagined that the website, inaugurated by NRI entrepreneur Ronald Colaco in Dubai, would one day go on to help the needy to the tune of Rs 20 crore, and register a whopping one million (10 lac) regular visitors.

For the first time in Daijiworld's journey of two decades, we crossed one million unique visitors, registering at least 35% increase compared to the previous years. It is a dream that we never saw, still realized today. I, along with the entire team of Daijiworld, feel proud, privileged and extremely fortunate to have achieved this milestone, and be part of the wonderful journey that we have covered over the past 19 years.

We feel blessed to have become a conduit for the needy who deserve our support and assistance. The foundation of any healthy society lies in its willingness to uplift people who are facing misfortune and need a helping hand to rise out of difficulty. We thank our dear readers for your alacrity and generosity in supporting and assisting hundreds of needy persons on our charity column. We feel proud to announce that your support has generated Rs 21 crore in charity, and showered countless blessings.

We are able to celebrate this special day because of the blessing and support of our readers, supporters, sponsors, advertisers, agencies, franchises, and most importantly, each and every member of Daijiworld staff, who has contributed in one or the other way. Some are still with us, some not. But their contribution is always remembered with gratitude. Daijiworld team ably led by Richie John Pais, assisted by Allwyn Mascarenhas, works hard constantly and consistently to bring you the latest.

The 20th year is going to be a special one. We will have some programmes and plans to implement, about which we will keep you updated. Of late, journalism has become a most challenging profession. We cannot claim to have done everything right, but we have tried and strived to do our best without taking sides. At the same time, being in this position, one cannot make everyone happy. I hope anyone who is unhappy would understand the demands of journalism.

We have received lots of appreciation, support and positive feedback from our readers from across the world; at the same time we respect the criticism and even abuse with optimism. We accept, we correct, and we move forward.

With this editorial, I personally condole the demise of one of our directors, Victor D'Souza, who passed away on November 30, 2019 due to cardiac arrest at the age of 55. He was part of our Daijiworld family, and we miss him on this momentous occasion as we step into our 20th year. But he is with us in spirit and will continue to inspire us. May his soul rest in peace.

We at Daijiworld, the directors of Daijiworld Media Pvt Limited and all the sister concerns thank each and everyone of you for supporting us. We have a long way to go and many more milestones and goals to achieve. We seek your blessings and support in the coming days.

20 is a good number. We are grateful to you all.

May the Almighty bless all of us.

I have been a regular reader of Daijiworld for the past many years. The day starts and ends with the Daijiword website. In the present situation of biased and shouting television media, it is one year since I stopped watching all forms of television media. During Jan '19 I completely disconnected my TV set and the setup box and has been happy since then. I read the news on the website and forget it and avoid the cacophony of the blabbering and fighting newsreaders and the quarreling anchors. I should thank Daijiworld for providing with us to update and relevant news.

I appreciate the background team of Daijiworld who read the comments made by the readers and upload them. Many times my comments have not been uploaded. The stress and this team have to undergo in reading and assessing nasty and hurting comments and take a decision whether they should be uploaded or not needs commendation.

Best wishes to you and the whole editorial and background team. Let's hope the year 2020 brings in more good news from India and the world

Several people term it as luck for the success of any venture. However in this case it is not luck but hard work of and individual that has been key note towards the extreme growth of this media. The credit goes to that untiring individual Walter lovingly known to his friends as Waltie.

In twenty years Waltie has achieved a lot and one can be sure that within the next decade he will out beat several others and be that unique figure in the MEDIA WORLD. I am a well-wisher of Waltie. I may not live another ten years but my prediction will come true. Kudos to you Waltie. Several others join me wishing you well.
