Kundapur, Jan 9: A couple attempted suicide by consuming poison, while travelling in a private bus from Kollur to Udupi on Thursday, January 9.

Rajkumar (35) and Sangeetha (28) were rushed to Kundapur Government Hospital and later to Udupi District Hospital for treatment. They are originally from Tamil Nadu and stay in the tents in Udupi’s Amabalpady.

The couple had offered prayers at Kollur and were returning to Udupi with their son who is one and a half years old. They decided to end their life in the bus and consumed poison.

They are currently in a critical state. The bus driver and co-passengers got the couple admitted and also attended to the baby.

    Economy of the country is at its worst and our premier former chaiwala is not bothered. He is behind nonsense things like CAA, NRC etc.

    What poorer section of the society will do if they do not even have money to stay in a proper house or even have food?

    Hope they recover as their child is really young and needs them. Pray that God gives good sense to our central government authorities to look more into the economic side than the nonsense of dividing the country.

    They have a child and leaving him astray, they have decided to commit suicide. It looks very strange. Because, I read somewhere, the following: "Do not call a person wretched, whatever the ills he/she may possess, but has a child to love".

    What nonsense ! Having a 1 and a half year old child in company, both consume poison ?

    Who have they given birth (of the child) for ? How can anybody be so irresponsible ?
