Bengaluru: 'Girl intoxicated, raped - blackmailed to convert by using video' - Karandlaje

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jan 6: In another incident that could be termed as Love Jihad, an eighteen-year-old girl from Mogral Puthur in Kasargod district was said to have been intoxicated and raped by two men. The rape was recorded on video, and herself and her family members were pressurized to convert into Islam, it is reported.

The affected girl along with her parents and MP Shobha Karandlaje, met chief minister B S Yediyurappa, and city police commissioner Bhaskar Rao, on Sunday January 5, and handed over petitions seeking the arrest of the accused.

They said that as per their information, the accused have been peddling drugs in Kasargod and Bengaluru. They also have been bringing girls from Kerala border, get wrongful benefit, and convert them. The victim has urged the concerned to stop this activity forthwith.

Speaking to media persons, Karandaje said that the affected girl and her mother met her on Saturday and told her that the girl was raped 18 months back when she was 16 by Rishab from her village along with his friend Masook. "She was brought to Mangaluru and Bengaluru forcibly, given intoxicants, and raped. On the basis of video clip they had shot they blackmailed her to get converted into Islam. After she rejected, they have been regularly threatening her with exposing the video if herself and her family members except her father convert into Islam," she claimed.

Both the accused stayed near electronic city here and used to conduct aquarium business. They used to consume drugs when sexually exploiting the girl, the victim said. "We have requested the police commissioner to collect details about such other people engaged in these activities in the city, their background etc," Karandlaje stated.

"As per my information, our police contacted senior police officers in Kannur and a case has been registered there. One of the accused has been arrested. As the accused indulged in crime in the city, we have asked the commissioner here to register case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and arrest them," she explained. She also said that the girl and her mother have since filed complaint against the accused in the Electronics City police station. She also said that the chief minister, who met the affected girl and her mother, asked the police commissioner over phone to arrest the accused at the earliest and report to him further developments.

This shameful incident cannot be taken as a lie in its entirety just because Shobha has taken up the issue. Similar incident of rape, blackmail and conversion had also happened at Kozhikode over a year back. The vice-chairman of the minorities commission had requested for a CBI investigation.

I would blame our lethargic legal system for all these cases of sexual abuses, weather Nithyananda, Asaram or any other cases. We should have a fast track process for all these cases and exemplary punishment should be awarded in every case so it acts as a deterrent to these sexual predators. Maybe capital punishment, at present the law is such that these preperators have no fear of the law.

It is the duty of the Police to arrest such criminals and provide evidence to the court for punishment. Our legal system is pathetic so are our police. Shobha ji is preaching and threatening is of no good. She should act on the police for dereliction of duty and kick them off. Bring in well trained police. Is it possible ???

I fully agree with Nicholas. this Shobakkah, has done no favor to public ever in her life except igniting fire between communities. She should be give ignition ministry. she has taken oath to lie all the time. Public is fool to trust her. she had closed eyes on Nirbhaya and other issues.
