Doha: QVC lifts 3rd Gulf Lights trophy

Doha, Dec 10: QVC lifted the 3rd Gulf lights Cricket tournament 2019 Division II Trophy after defeating GULF LIGHTS by 3 wickets in a thrilling final here at Losail Cricket Complex.

Gulf Lights won the toss and opted to bat first.

Gulf Lights openers Niyamat (23 runs) and Hussain (25 runs) gave a brisk start for their team and both returned back after their stipulated deliveries. No. 3 batsman Arhshad had a quick fire 28 runs which took Gulf Lights to reach 81/0 in 10 overs. Later some splendid bowling from Mehtab, Rameez, Fauzan and Haleem kept Gulf Lights batsmen on the back foot and restricted the total score to 143 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.



For QVC Rameez took 3 wickets, Fauzan and Haleem took 2 wickets each. Zahir and Metab bowled economically and gave only 25 runs in their 6 overs.

In reply, QVC top order batsmen Anam ( 20 runs) and Samir ( 28 runs) had a very good start and put up 44 runs in their first 6 over overs. Later QVC lost Faisal, Rameez, Zahir, Kazi and Sanjay in quick session and left them with 88 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 14 overs. Later some splendid batting from Fouzan ( 36 runs with 3 sixes and 2 fours ) Tabish ( 13 runs) and Haleem ( 14 runs ) took QVC to the target in 18.4 overs.

For Gulf Lights, Zoheb and Murshid took 2 wickets each.

Fauzan of QVC was adjusted as Man of the Finals.

Best All Rounder – Kazi of QVC
Best Wicket keeper – Sanjay of QVC

At the prize distribution ceremony, the chief guest Seema Mubin, technical director of Gulf Lights along with guests of honour Dr Mubin of PHCC and Abid of Gems Wellington School distributed the winners, runners-up trophies, cash awards and over 250 prizes.

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by supporters and well-wishers and ended with complimentary refreshments and a lucky draw for all spectators.
