Mangaluru: Youngsters take part in ‘Youth March for Christ’

Mangaluru, Dec 2: Youth Commission, Mangaluru diocese in collaboration with White Doves, organised ‘Youth March for Christ’ under the theme ‘Christ our Life and Light’ on Sunday, December 1.

The youth of Mangaluru diocese gathered at Milagres Church. Suraj Norohna, president, YCS Mangaluru diocese, welcomed the gathering. Suraj norohna, Bondel and team led the praise and worship. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop of Mangaluru incensed the Holy Bible. Youth leaders Leon Loyd Saldanha, ICYM president, Suraj Norohna Ashal Benny, coordinator, Jesus Youth, and Akshitha Steefal Fernandes, president, AICUF State, took the Bible in procession.

The procession started from Milagres Church to Nehru Maidan with many tableau depicting the nature, Holy Family, Mother Theresa, service to society acts, public awareness tableau, etc. A huge cross was carried by the youth in the procession. Bible was carried in procession by Dr Fr Peter Paul Saldanha.

The youth carried placards, saint flags and marched to Nehru Maidan singing hymns.

The Bible was placed in the Alter setup at Nehru Maidan by the youth leaders. The bishop honoured the Bible by placing a garland on it.

Fr Clifford Fernandes, parish priest, Jeppu delivered the reflection on the theme. Fr Cyril Lobo from Bondel parish led the praise and worship along with Br Ronald Ammembal. The bishop led the prayer of consecration and delivered his message to the youth.

Jesvita Princy Quadros was felicitated for being appointed as the member of the International Youth Advisory Body by the Vatican.

Fr Ronald Prakash D'Souza, secretary, Youth Commission, delivered the vote of thanks.

Vicar general Fr Maxim Norohna and many priests were present. Nearly 2,000 youths of Mangaluru diocese actively participated in the event.

    WHAT AN EXEMPLARY MOVE. It is good to see our Bishop participating at the event ushering the season of ADVENT. It is good to see The Vicar General too participating at event and encouraging the youth..
