Mangaluru: Time off for a day – Journalists take part in sports meet

Mangaluru, Dec 1: National basketball player Sowkin Shetty inaugurated annual sports meet for journalists at Nehru Maidan here on Sunday, December 1. 

Addressing the gathering, Sowkin Shetty said, "I thank district journalists for inviting me for the sports meet. All credit goes to my basketball club for nurturing my dream and making me reach where I am today. Involve yourself in the sports to gain physical and mental fitness.” 

Mangaluru city corporation commissioner Ajith Kumar Hegde said, "Journalists are busy 24 hours with their duty. It is a good thing that in the busy schedule to involve themselves in sports activities. Journalists of Mangaluru are true to their profession as there is no yellow journalism here. Officials and journalists share a good bond with one another.”

 

Information officer Khader Shah, president of district working journalists’ union Srinivas Nayak Indaje, former president of district working journalists’ union Jagannath Shetty Bala and others were present. 

Journalist Athma Bhushan compered the programme. Journalist Jeethendra Kundeshwar welcomed the gathering and General secretary district working journalists’ union Ibrahim Adkastala rendered the vote of thanks.
