Four of Kerala's famous quintuplets to enter wedlock on same day

Daijiworld Media Network - Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 10: Four of Kerala’s famous quintuplets (5 born in a single delivery) are all set to tie the knot on the same day, same time and at the same venue. The wedding is scheduled to take place at Sree Krishna temple in Guruvayoor on April 26, 2020.

Their birth on November 18 in 1995, to Premakumar and Remadevi couple in Thiruvananthapuram was widely reported in media. Since then, the four sisters Uthraja, Uthara, Uthama and Uthra and their lone brother Uthrajan have had their important milestones, be it exams or their first vote, celebrated by the media.

Premakumar, a small time trader gave the quintuplets similar names as they were born on the Uthram star in Malayalam calendar. He even renamed their house ‘Pancha Ratnam’ (five jewels).

However, not everything was a smooth sail for the family. Remadevi suffered heart problems, the family faced financial issues. When the quintuplets were 9 years old, Premakumar committed suicide.

Premakumar’s death shocked the state and many good Samaritans aided the family financially. Remadevi managed to get a pacemaker and a job in a government bank. She lived for her children and ensured that they receive the best education.

The quintuplets, who will turn 24 on November 18, have completed their education and are now employed. Uthraja and Uthama are anesthesia technicians, Uthara is a fashion designer and Uthra is an online journalist. Their brother Uthrajan is an IT professional.

“Getting the four girls married on the same day was a wish I had made when they were born. By God’s grace, I have found suitable alliances for them and am happy that my wish will be fulfilled,” Remadevi told Deccan Herald.

Remadevi also remembers how her husband strived when he was alive to ensure all his children get equal opportunities. “After my husband’s sudden demise, I did not know what to do. But I decided that I should live for my children and fight circumstances,” she adds.

When questioned on Uthrajan’s marriage, the mother says that he has to scale more heights and hence its better he waits till the time is right for him.

This is definitely a feeling of fulfillment to the mother. In times that a female child is seen as a burden, to have brought four daughters is surely a milestone. And, of-course with equal efforts from all the siblings, to struggle and add up to their mother's honor.

Yes, I wish the father was alive to see this day. I wish you happiness in your married life, girls and best wishes to your brother too.
