Vibrant three-day 'Laksha Deepotsava' begins in Udupi

Udupi, Nov 10: On the day of Utthana Dvadashi, thousands of devotees gathered for 'Laksha Deepotsava' with all devotion and enjoyed by lighting oil lamps around Sri Krishna Math Udupi here on Saturday,
November 9.

Car Street looked beautiful with lacs of oil lamps lit in specially constructed wooden rows.

The religious rituals were led by Vidyadheesha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Palimar Math. Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math, Vidyasagar Theertha Swamiji of Krishnapura Math, Vishwaprasanna Theertha, junior seer of Pejawar Math, Vidya Vallabha Theertha of Kaniyoor Math, Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji of Sode Math, Junior Sri Vidyarajeshwar Theertha Swamiji of Palimaru math participated in the 'Kshiraabdhi' ritual at the Mantapa in the middle of 'Madhwa Sarovara' on the temple premises.

To mark 'Laksha Deepotsava', all swamijis who were present, offered milk to Lord Krishna in front of the Tulasi Katte in a ritual called 'Kshiraabdhi’.

Utsava idols of Lord Krishna and Lord Mukhyaprana were brought in a palanquin and placed in a decorated boat. It was taken around in ‘Madhwa Sarovara’, the temple lake thrice, marking the spectacular Teppotsava, followed by Rathotsava at Car Street here.

Earlier, Swamiji of Palimar Paryaya Math Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha, accompanied by other six maths' seers lighted lamps to Lord Krishna to mark ‘Deepa Prajwalana.’

Later, the idols of Lord Krishna and Lord Mukhyaprana were kept in 'Garudaratha', while the idols of Lord Anantheshwara and Lord Chandrmaulishwara were placed in the 'Mahapoojaratha' and taken around Car Street.

The two beautifully decorated chariots, were brought around the temple accompanied with colourful tableaus. Colourful cracker show enthralled the people at Car Street.

This time, the Bhajana dance team added more flavour to the festive season. Bhajans played in sound system was beautifully arranged, which filled divinity among the gathering over there.

As part the Uthana Dvadashi, Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha Swamiji offered Tulsi to Lord Sri Krishna in the morning.

Normally the 'Laksha Deepotsava'will be held for three days and the next two will be held as ‘harake seve’ by devotees.

Udupi Sri Krishna temple and other maths are glittering with colourful miniature lights. It was a visual teat for the public.
