Bengaluru, Nov 8: Upset that his wife only gave birth to girls, a Bengaluru-based businessman gave triple talaq to his wife of 19 years.
The woman identified as Noor Fathima filed a complaint in R T Nagar police station against her husband Syed Afsar.
In her complaint, Noor alleged that in their 19-year-long marriage, she gave birth to five daughters. The eldest was born mentally challenged. Throughout her life, Noor claimed that she was abused and assaulted for giving birth to girls. In a recent quarrel, Afsar pronounced triple talaq and asked Noor to go to her parents’ house. He refused to take her back stating that their marriage is annulled.

The police have booked Syed under the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019. They have also issued him a notice asking him to appear for questioning.
