Mangaluru: Lourdes Central School hosts spirited Sports Day

Mangaluru, Nov 7: The Lourdes Central School (LCS) sports week began on November 4. The finale from kindergarten to class V was held on November 7 at the school grounds.

The chief guest, Major Dr Rajesh S M, paediatrician and head of the department of Paediatrics, KMC Hospital was accompanied by the president Fr Wilson L Vitus D’Souza, principal, Fr Robert D’Souza, vice-principal, Belita Mascarenhas, asst parish priest, Fr Pramod Crasta, Shankara Subbu PTEC, vice-president, Valentina Rodrigues.



The Sports Day began by invoking God's blessings. Fr Robert D’Souza welcomed the gathering. The special highlight of the Sports Day was the colourful display from the kindergarteners, class IV children and mass PT exercises from class I to class 5. The house system song was sung by the students of Opal house, Coral house, Jade house and Amber house. All the students from KG to class V had a fun-filled week.

During the sports week, various sports events were conducted for the students from KG to Class 5 who participated in them wholeheartedly. The winners were awarded with medals and certificates.

The chief guest in his address said that sports makes a person physically and mentally strong. It helps in the growth of children. He congratulated all the winners and wished them all the best for their future.

Fr Wilson L Vitus D’Souza in his address said, "Sports is a platform for success. Whether you win or not all the participants are winners. Keep up the sportsman spirit."

The programme was compered by Siddharth and Anushka, Joanne Benita Karkad proposed the vote of thanks.

The programme concluded by singing the school anthem.
