Bengaluru, Sep 23: State Congress party has filed a complaint with the Election Commission (EC), in which it has named chief minister B S Yediyurappa, DCM Govind Karajola, home minister Basavaraj Bommai, law minister Madhuswamy and other BJP leaders of the state of allegedly violating the election code of conduct.

A delegation led by former MP and chief of KPCC media section V S Ugrappa met the chief election officer of the state on Sunday, September 22 and submitted the complaint.

The complaint filed by the state Congress says, "The chief minister of the state has held a meeting with the disqualified MLAs in the government guest house, along with his cabinet colleagues and advocate general, after the bye elections for the 15 legislative assembly seats was announced by the EC, which also meant that the election code of conduct came into force immediately after the announcement.

"In addition, the CM, along with other ministers has held a video conference with national president of BJP Amit Shah and working president J P Nadda in the committee room of Vidhana Soudha in which he has discussed about the bye election and the selection of candidates. So suitable legal action should be taken against the CM and the ministers for misusing the administrative power and thereby violating the election code of conduct," the complaint read.
