Mayor of Thane claims threat call received from D-gang

Thane, Sep 19: On Tuesday, Thane police received a complaint from Mayor of Thane city, Meenakshi Shinde about a threat call. Shinde claimed to receive a call from Dawood Ibrahim's close aide. She also stated that the unidentified caller threatened to kidnap her and ruin her family. The caller allegedly blamed Shinde for 'indulging in quarrels' in the city.

Shinde asserted it was the first time when the D-gang threatened a woman. Further, she challenged gangsters who threatened her and announced that she would deal with them.

"We cannot ignore such things and this being election period, the complaint needs to be filed," said Shinde.

Following the complaint by Shinde, a case was registered under section 507 of the IPC at Kapurbawdi police station in Thane.
