Bengaluru: Vokkaligas in huge numbers protest against D K Shivakumar's arrest

Bengaluru, Sep 11 (IANS): In a show of strength, about 12,000 Vokkaligas of the politically-dominant community in Karnataka staged a massive rally to protest the arrest of Congress leader D.K. Shivakumar by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on September 3 in a money laundering case, a party official said on Wednesday.

"The 5 km long rally from National College in the southern suburbs to Freedom Park in the city central was peaceful and the response was overwhelming, as thousands of Vokkaligas protested Shivakumar's arrest and demanded his release forthwith," party official Ravi Gowda told IANS here.

The Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) also joined the rally along with hundreds of pro-Kannada activists to express solidarity with Shivakumar, a strong Vokkaliga leader in the southern state.

"The BJP-led NDA government is indulging in vendetta politics. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are hell-bent on taking revenge on Shivakumar for being our party's trouble-shooter and consolidating the Vokkaligas, cutting across the party lines," Gowda said.

Elaborate security arrangements were made en route and additional police personnel were deployed at the venues to prevent any untoward incident.

Party's state unit president Dinesh Gundu Rao and other state leaders participated in the rally and addressed the gathering at the Freedom Park, accusing the BJP of trying to finish off the opposition parties, especially the Congress, by misusing the central agencies like ED and CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation).

"Most of the protesters came from the old Mysuru region, including Ramanagara, Channapatna, Kanakapura, Mandya and Mysuru, responding to the call of the community leaders and pro-Kannada organisations," Gowda said.

Party's legislators like Krishna Byre Gowda, Sowmya Reddy and former MP V.S. Ugrappa took part in the rally and the public event.

Thanking the community leaders and the party for their support and solidarity, Shivakumar urged them to conduct the rally and demo peacefully without causing inconvenience to the people and not to damage public property.

"I would like to reiterate that I have done nothing wrong and am a target of vendetta politics. With the support and blessings of you all and my belief in god and judiciary, I have full faith that I will emerge victorious both legally and politically in this case," tweeted Shivakumar to his community leaders and followers.

Bengaluru: HC adjourns hearing in D K Shivakumar's appeal against ED summons

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Sep 12: The appeal filed by former minister, D K Shivakumar, questioning the decision of the single judge bench of the state high court that had quashed the petition filed by him seeking to annul the summons served on him by the enforcement directorate to be present personally for questioning, came up for hearing on Wednesday September 11. The hearing now stands adjourned to September 16.

The summons were issued in respect of unexplained cash amounting to Rs 8.69 crore found in flats in Delhi during the raids by income tax department, sources of which are yet to be satisfactorily explained.

Daughter's questioning today

The officials of the enforcement directorate have, in the meanwhile, served notice to Aishwarya, daughter of D K Shivakumar, asking her to be present at the office of the directorate for questioning in connection with her investments in different companies and concerns. This is absurd. I can understand a political party staging protest for its leader. But why do we bring in community or religion in protests when a leader is arrested. If he is innocent, the court will let him off. Why protest in the name of caste or religion?

I'm unaware of DKS wrong doings as accused by ED , But I Never saw an politicians as brave, courageous , daring as DKS,He really is an charismatic mass leader OR else why would public protest for this arrest and support DKS???why would DKS declare his assets??Why dint he run away evading all these arrest????
I hope he has not done anything wrong and he comes out clean without any corruption charges.

Even chidambaram was not traceable(went underground) for about 4-5 hours before his arrest, finally he surfaced in Congress headquarters for arrest.

The turnover of a company owned by Jay Amitbhai Shah, son of Bharatiya Janata Party leader Amit Shah, increased 16,000 times over in the year following the election of Narendra Modi as prime minister and the elevation of his father to the post of party president, filings with the Registrar of Companies (RoC) show.

Company balance sheets and annual reports obtained from the RoC reveal that in the financial years ending March 2013 and 2014, Shah’s Temple Enterprise Private Ltd. engaged in the negligible activity and recorded losses of Rs 6,230 and Rs 1,724 respectively. In 2014-15, it showed a profit of Rs 18,728 on revenues of only Rs 50,000 before jumping to a turnover of Rs 80.5 crore in 2015-16.

    Dear N.M.
first understand difference between turnout and own asset.

Even i have a shop and invested nearly 1,00,00 while open in 2018 May, every day my business is average Rs. 4000, it means my yearly turn out is Rs.4000 * 30 days * 12 month which is 14 Lakh 40 thousand.

14,40,000 is not my income its turn out

My profit is only nearly 1 Lakh rs in last year....

in case if business improved and my daily business goes upto 15000 per day my turn out will cross 54 Lakh per year.

Now a days every one showing like they are big economist with out even knowing difference between turn out and Asset
