Udupi: Ganesh Chaturthi festivities come to grand close in temple town

Udupi, Sep 10: Ganesh Chaturthi festivities were in full swing in various parts of the coastal region. The festive spirit was in the air as thousands came together to take part in Ganeshotsava processions and sought divine blessings from Lord Ganesh.

God is omnipresent. His energies envelop the whole universe. Yet people worship different forms of Siddhi Vinayaka, Lakshmi Ganapathi, Modakapriya, Bala Ganapathi and so on, because people believe that the ‘avathars’ are to address different issues in humans’ lives.

Temples, homes and public places were adorned with exquisite Ganesh idols, carved and sculpted with intricate details by the artistic hands of several idol makers. It was the meeting point of divinity and art.

Sarvajanika Sri Ganeshotsava Samithi tourist Bus and Service Bus agents, Udupi celebrated 20th anniversary with grand and devotion. The Ganesha statue was installed on Monday, September 2. After day-long religious rituals, Ganahoma, mahapooja and the idol was immersed on same day in the evening. Lord Ganesha was carried in a grand procession.

Tukaram Pai and brothers contributed for the statue. There was orchestra performed by Coastal Karnataka and Kerala artistes of Friends Melodies Udupi. Hundreds of devotees took part in the event and made it successful.

Navachethana Yuvaka mandala and Annapoorneshwari Manila Mandali, New Colony Kodankoor

Navachethana Yuvaka mandala and Annapoorneshwari Manila Mandali, New Colony Kodankoor celebrated 8th year’s Ganeshotsava on September 2. From morning till evening, there were many religious rites performed at Navachethana Yuvaka Mandala premises. The religious rites began with Ganapathi idol installation, ganahoma, and mahapooja.

A Bhakti sanje was held by Ramanjaneya Kala Sangha Ambalpady. Colourful cultural programmes were performed by locals and dance show was held by X-team Group Udupi. Followed by the entertainment programme, there was Rangapooja offered to Lord Ganesha and the statue was immersed in evening at Vishnumurthy Temple pond in Nittur.

Nidamboor Yuvaka Mandala, Kadekar

Nidamboor Yuvaka Mandala, Kadekar celebrated 49th anniversary of Ganeshotsava for five days from September 2 and concluded on September 6. Cultural extravaganza performed by professional artistes. There was bhajans and mahapooja every day. On September 3, there was comedy drama staged by Nimisha Kalavider Katpady.

On September 5, 'Chakravyuha' yakshagana was performed by Yakshagana Kalakendra Udupi. Thousands of devotees took part in Mahaannasantharpana, held on Thursday. On the last day, the beautiful idol statue was carried in procession, accompanied with band set and tableaus.

Sarvajanika Sri Ganeshotsava Samithi, Pangala

Sarvajanika Sri Ganeshotsava samithi, Pangala celebrated its 23rd Ganeshotsava on September 2. The idol of Ganesha wasinstalled at Sri Lakshmi Janardhana Mantapa, Pangala. As part of the event, after installation of statue, the priests performed ganahoma, mahapooja and prasadam was distributed among devotees.

After the day-long religious ritual, the idol was immersed in a pond near Pangala. A special Bhajan programme was held.

Sarvajanika Sri Ganeshotsava Samithi, Kondalli Shankaranarayana

The samithi hosted its 5th year of Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava with grand fervour. Ganesha idol was kept for two days.

The idol was installed at government higher primary school near Kondalli. Cultural programmes such as bhajan sandhya, religious pravachana and Dasavani was conducted.

Youth Sports and Cultural Club Ambalpady Udupi

The Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava committee Ambalpady organized the 42nd festival successfully. The programme was held in association with youth sports and cultural club, Ambalpady at Lal Bahaddur Shashtri ground, Ambalpady. The idol was installed on September 2. Ganesh Pratishta Mahotsava and specially offered 108 coconuts during Ganahoma of performed as part of the Ganesh Chaturthi.

The idol of lord Ganesh was kept for five days. There was bhajan programme, every day and cultural programmes, drawing competitions, and even swachatha programme was held. Ganesha idol was immersed at pushkarini of Sri Lakshmi Janardhan Mahakali temple, Ambalpady.

Sarvajanika Sri Ganeshotsava Samiti, C/o Syndicate Bank Manipal

Sarvajanika Sri Ganeshotsava Samiti, C/o Syndicate bank Manipal, took the initiative and idol was installed at Syndicate bank Golden Jubilee hall, Manipal. This was the 42nd year of Chauthi celebration by the Samiti. The idol has been kept for public view for three days.

Thousands of devotees were sought blessings of Lord Ganesha and the idol was immersed on third day, which was carried in grand shobhayathra. Chende, Nasik band, tiger troupes, and folk dances added more colour to the divine procession.

Sri Durgaparameshwari Friends Club, Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava samithi, Abbanadka-Nandalike

Abbanadka Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava committee organized the 13th festival successfully, in association with Sri Durgaparameshwari Friends Club Nandalike-Abbanadka Kuntalagundi. Religious rituals like ganahoma, Bhajan mahotsa, mahapooaja were performed throughout the day.

Followed by the annsantharpana, there were sports events fun filled activities organized for public. Cultural programmes like Muddu Krishna contest was held. Pallavi artistes’ team performed a comedy drama in the night.

Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava, Kannarpady, Kinnimulky

Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava, Kannarpady, Kinnimulky celebrated the 14th years of Ganeshotsava. On this occasion, Ranga pooja was held on August 25. Bhajana programme and other religious programmes were held on account of festivities. The Ganesh idol was immersed on August 27. The committee had been organising a day-long programme these many years.

From the 10th year anniversary, it started holding a three-day celebration. Cultural committee of various associations performed Yakshagana dramas. Rangoli design, pot breaking competition and musical chair competitions and as many as 80 sports events were conducted for children. Scholarship was distributed to high scoring children during the occasion.

Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava Samithi, Ambagilu

Ganeshotsava Samithi, Ambagilu held 31st year of Ganeshotsava. The idol was installed on September 9. Religious rituals and cultural programmes were held for two days.

Hundreds of devotees offered pooja and flowers to Lord Ganesh without discrimination of caste or religion. The numbers of devotees are increasing year after year.
