Mangaluru: LCS celebrates colourful Monti fest, Onam, extends help to DK's flood victims

Mangaluru, Sep 7: Lourdes Central School (LCS) saw a twin celebration of Monti fest and Onam on September 7 in a grand assembly.

The school lobby decorated with pookalam and beautiful motifs for the feast of our Lady adorned the bulletin boards. The assembly began with a prayer song honouring mother Mary. The significance of the day was read by Payton Monteiro.

The principal, Fr Robert D'Souza wished the entire Lourdite family on the occasion of Nativity and Onam and prayed blessings of mother Mary on all. The principal and vice principal, Belita Mascarenhas along with teachers and students offered flowers to our Lady.

The school choir headed by Ivan Mascarenhas and Roshan Corderio enhanced the prayerful ambience with hymns. The students of class XII performed a melodious and foot tapping rendition of Malayalam folk songs. The programme ended with the school anthem followed by Eucharistic celebration for the Catholic students and teachers. The programme was compered by Rishel Pinto of class IX and Shawn of class XII.



Collection Drive for flood affected people of Dakshina Kannada

Our Blessed Virgin Mary significantly known as the handmaid of the Lord and symbol of purity, humility and charity is revered on the day of Monti Fest and living by her example, the principal and entire Lourdite family contributed their mite toward relief of the flood affected people of Dakshina Kannada.

Items like grains, bedsheets, towels, sleeping mats and other provisions were neatly packed, arranged and prepared for dispatch by the cabinet ministers and teachers incharge.
