Karkala: 19-year-old youth dies while taking selfie at Arbi Falls

Karkala, Aug 15: A 19-year-old youth lost his life while taking a selfie at famous Arbi Falls near here on Thursday, August 15. 

Sudesh Moolya, son of Krishna Moolya from Bola, is the person deceased. He was an electrician by profession. 

As per the details available, four friends had gone to Arbi Falls for picnic. Sudesh and Bharat fell down into water while talking a selfie. Bharat knew swimming and hence managed to survive. But Sudesh drowned in the water. 

It is said that Bharat tried his best to save Sudesh. But due to heavy force of water, he could not accomplish the task. 

The body is yet to be found. Police and Fire Brigade are in search operation. 

Some sources said that the friends might have gone to Arbi Falls after consuming liquor. 

The police have registered a case. 

Though hundreds of visitors come to Arbi Falls, there is no single signboard there to warn about the dangers at the place. The continuous rains have made the place more dangerous for visitors.

    This selfie craze has taken lives both young and old. Yet many idiots don't understand the danger they are facing when taking selfies at dangerous spots and heights. I hope his body is found as soon as possible.

    Till recently Daijiworld Highlighted about this falls ..we are unaware of such a beautiful falls near to us in karkala Nitte. Why Nitte panchayat neglected to provide safety of visitors in their limit?

    Very Bad news..RIP ..Nitte Panchayat is the most corrupt Panchayat. Recently its in news for its Village Accountant under Lokayukta raids..then were they have a time to look in to safety or road issues

    It is necessary to make understand these youngsters that when there is continuous downpour there is a tendency to grow algae or fungus on any rocks or soil. It is not visible sometimes as it is green in color and people think it is grass.!! But very dangerous

    Very Sad news..condolence to the grieved family.RIP
    Nitte Arbi falls is scenic beauty surrounded by lush greenery and historical importance place belongs to Tulu God Siri. There were many visit the water falls till december mainly the youth and student of nearby colleges and some films, historical TV serials like Koti chennaya shooted here...but there were lack of basic facilities..The Local Authorities / Nitte Panchayat failed to install safety measures and warning boards is fully responsible for neglecting

    Does this gang of around 20 year old boys need a signboard to warn about the dangers at Arbi Falls?
    In Malpe beach, there were umpteen hoarding, a fence and life guards warning against getting into the sea during early monsoon. Yet, drunkards violated all those braches!
