Bantwal, Aug 15: The Congress committee here has filed complaint in the rural police station here alleging that derogatory video of former minister B Ramanath Rai, has been circulated in social media by miscreants.

The complaint said that Ramanath Rai had visited the people affected by floods to infuse confidence in them recently. The Congress unit here also complained that some miscreants had morphed the video of Rai's visit and spread the same through social websites with content that contains derogatory remarks about Rai.

The party said that video of Ramanath Rai travelling by boat was captured by the concerned. This video tape was doctored and made to look like immersion ceremony of Lord Ganesha in a derogatory manner. They said that the creators of this video clip have also made mockery of the Hindu gods and their devotional feelings. The complainants also asked the police to immediately identify and arrest the people behind this video and see that they are punished.
