Mangaluru: Lourdes Central School observes Independence Day

Mangaluru, Aug 15: 'Freedom is the breath of life' - Even the red alert of heavy rainfall in the district did not dampen the spirit of the 73rd Independence Day celebrations at Lourdes Central School, Mangaluru.

Fr Wilson L Vitus D’Souza, manager LCS presided over the function.

Principal Fr Robert D’Souza, vice principal Belita Mascarenhas, Vice President, Bejai Parish Pastoral Parishad, Stany Vas graced the occasion.

Priyanka of Class X welcomed the gathering. Fr Wilson L Vitus D’Souza hoisted the flag and in his presidential address, encouraged everyone to keep in mind the efforts of our forefathers who laid their lives to free us from foreign dominance and strive to attain true freedom from poverty, corruption and terrorism which prevail in our society today.



Gautami of Class VIII and Vaishnavi of Class IX explained the importance of the day and the students of Class IX and X enkindled patriotism by their patriotic songs.

Principal Fr Robert D’Souza, in his message said that each one of us must be grateful to God for protecting us from the recent floods and at the same time pray for all those who were affected by the floods and extend a helping hand in whatever way possible.

Suhena Suma Darshan of class 8 proposed the vote of thanks. The programme ended with Naada Geethe.
