Beltangady: CM visits flood-affected places - Announces compensation to victims

Beltangady, Aug 12: Chief minister(CM) B S Yediyurappa, who is on a visit to Dakshina Kannada district to assess the damage caused by the recent deluge, visited the Kukkavu gruel center in the taluk of Beltangady and listened to the woes of the flood-affected victims. 

The CM announced that Rs five lac compensation to those who have lost their houses due to the recent flood. Rs one lac will be given to repair the houses of those, whose houses were damaged during the deluge, he informed. 



"282 houses in the district of Dakshina Kannada have been completely destroyed in the floods. These families will receive a compensation of Rs five lac each. The deputy commissioner (DC) of the district will locate the site where the new houses will be built and will give the sanction order to the victims. The victims can build their new houses in the specified locations," Yediyurappa added. 

"As an emergency relief, Rs 10,000 will be distributed to the victims of floods by the evening of Monday, August 12. Rs 5,000 house rent allowance (HRA) will be given to the affected families till the time the new house is built or the damaged house is repaired," Yediyurappa said. 

The CM also said that the road repair work and construction of retainer walls will begin soon. The DC will submit a report on the damage to crop and property, he informed. 

The CM was accompanied by MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Harish Poonja and former minister Nagaraja Shetty.

    This allotted compensation to be published in NEWS paper in black and white so the people can understand where the money goes ? Simply in front of the camera dont announce anything you want! Its like to be SSLC result announcement ! earlier the donations and money given by the people GOD alone knows where it was drained ! Some crocodiles to evade tax may announce for the record fake amount !
