Mangaluru, Aug 10: Heavy downpour lashed Dakshina Kannada inundating low-lying areas and flooding roads, disrupting traffic and throwing life out of gear.

While boats were used to ferry stranded people from areas which are almost submerged, jeeps were used to rescue people in distress.

People in three jeeps were seen rescuing people in Jeppinamogaru as certain areas in Dakshina Kannada district are inundated by the swollen Netravati river.

According to reports, several houses in Bantwal, including that of former Union Minister Janardhan Poojary, were inundated. However, he and his family members were rescued.

I heartily support your efforts in evacuating the affected people. Sir one request to you. Kindly tie few Plantain trunks with bamboo below the axle of the jeep . Even if there is a crater or open manhole which isn't visible, the jeep and people may not sink and may save precious lives by keeping the jeep afloat. Try with waste Plantain trunks.

When it is raining, our ministers are busy tackling floods and other relief measures.
When it is not raining, they are busy tackling not only water shortage, but saving their chairs from the so called 'opposition'.
And nowadays 'resort-hopping', 'safeguarding' the honourable ministers. How can they work from resorts? No time to think of solutions to natural problems, as artificial problems occupy all the precious time.
    This is Reality.

Appreciate the efforts of all involved in rescue efforts.
Very disheartening to see all this water around and yet in 7-8 months we'll be fighting water shortages.
Hope the concerned authorities wake up on time and do the needful to manage the situations better.
