Udupi, Aug 10: A four-member gang waylaid a motorbike rider, and relieved him of cash, gold ornaments and other items. This incident happened on the night of Friday August 9 at Sagri within Manipal police station limits.

Narasimha Nayak from Moodusagri was moving in his bike from Manlpal to his home at around 1.15 am when he was intercepted. Two men who were riding a KTM motorbike overtook him a little ahead of Sagri school cross road and falsely accused him of dashing against their two-wheeler. Two more who were riding a Honda Activa vehicle joined the first two later. The gang robbed a gold chain weighing 24 grams valued at Rs 70,000, a cellphone worth Rs 29,000, Rs 31,000 cash found in his purse, ATM, Aadhar, PAN cards and voter ID card, Nayak has alleged.

On the basis of his complaint, a case has been registered at Manipal police station. Investigation has been taken up.
