Kundapur, Jul 15: “Where are the MPs and MLAs who are not opening their mouth even when the young Dalit women are raped? Though the Dalits are given the rights to live, BJP is not allowing them to live in peace. BJP, in the quest of appeasing the upper castes of the society, is conducting atrocities on the poor, Dalit and backward communities,” said former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, accusing BJP seriously.

Sorake was speaking after inaugurating the installation ceremony of the new president and office bearers of Kundapur block Congress committee at the East West Club that is situated on Koni Road of the town.

Sorake further said, “Though a double murder has taken place near the house of opposition leader of the state, no one from BJP is opening their mouth. What is the reason for people like Shobha Karandlaje, Nalin Kumar Kateel and local BJP MLAs not giving any statement when a young Dalit woman was gang raped in Puttur? Are Dalits not part of Hindu community? Don’t they have the right to live like anyone else in this country? People will decide as to whom are the culprits arrested by the police in these two cases.”

“BJP Party, which has forgotten the assurances given before assuming power, is playing with the emotions of people by game of elections. It is making the achievements of the defense forces as its asset. Among the 303 MPs that were elected in the recently held Lok Sabha elections that were fought on the basis of Pulwama attack as the focus point there is not a single MP, who belongs to the minority community. Among the 25 MPs elected from our state, there is not a single one who belongs to the backward community. BJP is preaching social justice to the country,” ridiculed Vinay Kumar Sorake.

Continuing his barrage against the BJP, Vinay Kumar Sorake said, “The recently held Lok Sabha elections have put the Congress on a temporary setback. There are many examples in the past, where the Congress party has risen like Phoenix from the worst political situations. The party is pondering of using young workers of the party in order to build the party from the grass root level. Though there were many surgical strikes during the Congress regime, it never used as an arsenal for the election campaign. Congress, which has developed the country and build the nation, will surely bounce back.”

Hariprasad Shetty Kanmakki, who is nominated as the new president of the block Congress and other office bearers assumed charge.

Outgoing president of block Congress committee Malyady Shivaram Shetty presided over the function. Vice-president of Mangalur KMF S Prakashchandra Shetty, Vice-president of state backward classes unit Manigopala, member of state IT cell Chandrashekhara Shetty, Sanmath Hegde, member of zilla panchayat Gauri Devadiga, town municipality members Chandrashekhara Kharvi, Sridhar Sherugara, Prabhavati Shetty, Abbu Mohammed, Ashfaque Kodi, Laxmi Poojarthy, office bearers of district Congress B Hiriyanna, Ismail Atradi, S Raju Poojary, Kishan Hegde Kolkebail, Devanand Shetty, Santhoshkumar Shetty Haklady, Timma Poojary, presidents of block Congress Pradeepkumar Shetty Kavradi, Madankumar Uppunda, Shankara Kundar, prominent personalities of the party Mustaq Ahmed Belve, Mahesh Hegde Molahalli, Jayaram Shetty Belve, Jyoti V Puthran, Sampigedi Sanjeeva Shetty, Krishnadev Karanth, B Haroon Saheb, Satish Kini Belve, Ganesh Sherugara, Krishna Poojary Amasebail and Anantpadmanabha Chatra were present.
