Mumbai: Vegetable vendor kills customer over payment of Rs 10

Mumbai, Jun 25: A 25-year-old has been charged with murder for a dispute over payment. On Tuesday, the police officials arrested a vegetable vendor who stabbed his customer over payment of Rs 10 in Dadar area.

The accused has been identified as Soni Lal Mahonto and the deceased has been identified as Mohammed Hanif. The latter had been to market to purchase vegetables around 11 pm on Monday when the incident took place.

A disagreement broke out between the two, which escalated to a point where the vendor stabbed the victim repeatedly until he was dead. According to the police officials, the victim was stabbed several times on his neck and hands with a vegetable knife. Once the deed was done, the accused fled the scene.

“As soon as we were informed about the incident, we reached the spot and rushed the victim to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.” Dadar Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sunil Gawker said.

An investigation further into the matter is underway and a case of murder is registered against the accused.
