Puttur: MP Nalin expects resumption of cancelled Mangaluru-Miraj train

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Jun 24: Dakshina Kannada Member of Parliament (MP), Nalin Kumar Kateel, said that efforts are on to convince the railways to resume Mangaluru-Miraj passenger train, which had been withdrawn earlier. He was speaking to media persons here on Sunday June 23.

"We will put additional efforts to improve railway connectivity of the district. Demand for running trains from Mangaluru to Guruvayoor, Subramanya-Kollur, and Mangaluru-Tirupathi, have already been placed before the railway minister in the form of proposals," he explained.

Nalin stated that an under bridge would be built parallel to the railway gate at APMC Road in the town. "We had sent proposal to the government for a new bridge as an alternative to the narrow railway over-bridge on Vivekananda College Road here long back. I will put efforts to see that this demand is met. During the meeting the railway minister would be convening for individual states, our demands would be put forth and followed up," he explained.

He requested people to support the initiative undertaken by Mangaluru (South) MLA, Vedavyas Kamath, to use banana leaves in place of plastic in hotels. He said that the union government would shortly be beginning a scheme of giving Rs 3,000 to people aged over 60 who run shops. Poor vendors will reap benefits out of this, he felt.

Nalin said that the BJP is committed to the belief system that women between the age of 10 and 50 should not visit Sabrimala shrine. He felt that creating blocks in the observance of traditions and observations cannot be termed as secular politics.

APM president, Dinesh Medu, media spokesperson, R C Narayan, and others were present.

I think, efforts should be made to complete doubling of lines from Byndoor to Mangaluru at the earliest so that DEMU train operate between Byndoor and Mangaluru. There is a already a plan to track doubling on Konkan Railway. Need to complete Mangalure - Byndoor phase quickly. Minister Suresh Angadi from Karnataka can help with this project go through. In fact, the DEMU can operate from Kasaragod all the way up to Byndoor.

When Mangalore has two ministers representing the civil Aviation and Railways in the Central government. Mr. Sadanda Gowda who himself was the minister for Railway nothing has achieved in his entire tenure.
His promises like PM Modi's ambitious invisible 'Bullet train' running without tracks.

My only suggestion for him to complete the pending projects on time.

Keep on going with the big talks Nalin Kateel. The Cong has to be blamed. Firstly Cong fields some 'lallus' against BJP candidate that ensures them a good comprehensive victory. Then they blame for BJP for non-development. BTW where is the masssiiiiiiiive protest that was to held by the Cong, led by Mithun Rai and other leaders of Cong? where all the 5 lac voters were expected to assemble?
Was it another big talk. ?

One thing is clear after one month from the date of results of the general elections, Neither congress, nor most of their supporters will not change. That means we won't have a proper opposition (which is a must in a democracy) in near future.

David Pais, Mangalore . Magadomme The so called 'Nikammas' have been shown the door by Indians. Your idol had to flee his home constituency to contest in a safe one all the way to Wayanad in Kerala. Tadananthara, as per reports Soniaji, Priyankji and contesting from Malapurram and Kannur next time. That should be your worry. Magadomme, Dont think about candidates who have been elected by the majority Indians.
