Mangaluru: Monsoon to remain weak - Depression over Bay of Bengal likely

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jun 17: By the time Cyclone Vayu that had taken birth in Arabian Sea ceased, likelihood of another area of depression arising in Bay of Bengal has been predicted.

Monsoon remained weak for the third successive day in Dakshina Kannada district on Sunday June 16. A clearer picture about the area of depression in Bay of Bengal would emerge after June 18. Monsoon will remain weak in the district for a couple of days and dry weather will continue, said scientist of Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre, S S M Gavaskar.

The twin-districts have not experienced torrential rainfall usually associated with the advent of monsoon except when the cyclone passed through them. There have been intermittent rain but not intensive. Therefore the climate continues to be hot and humid.
