Bengaluru, Jun 17: BJP leaders, who were proceeding to the chief minister's (CM) home office, 'Krishna', charging the government of failing to address drought situation efficiently, handle loan waiver scheme meant for the farmers in a proper way, and opposing the government's decision to sell huge land to a Jindal group company, were stopped by the police on the way and taken into custody.

The BJP leaders had undertaken 48-hour protest demonstration without any break on Friday morning. After the protest came to an end, on Sunday morning, BJP state president, B S Yeddyurappa, led a group of BJP people’s representatives, leaders, and activists, with the aim of mobbing the chief minister's home office, 'Krishna'.

When the police stopped the group from proceeding further, the group engaged in arguments with the police. The police had installed barricades near the CM's office as a measure of precaution. When the leaders including Yeddyurappa proceeded to push the barricades back, the police took into custody BJP leaders, Yeddyurappa, R Ashok, Aravind Limbavali, Renukacharya, and others. They were taken in police vehicles.

Yeddyurappa said that his party will not allow sale of 3,667 acres of land to jindal Company. He however said that his party is not opposed if the lease of the company is renewed.

CM, HD Kumaraswamy, revealed that he had sent letter to protesting BJP leaders through minister, Venkatarao Nadagauda, inviting them for talks on development of the state. He said he suspected that these leaders might seek time but the way in which the leaders behaved has revealed that the party wants cheap publicity, not development-oriented discussions.
