Mangaluru, May 21: The 'Hindu Unity March' organized on Monday May 20 on the occasion of the 77th birthday of 'Paratpar Guru', Dr Jayant Balaji Athavale, began from Jyoti Circle with the offering of puja to the flag. The procession which began at Jyoti Circle culminated at the town hall where a valedictory function was held.

Hundreds of office bearers of various Hindu organizations participated in the procession. Representatives if International Society for Krishna Consciousness, Sri Ram Sene, Navajeevana Vyayama Shale, Khavantaya friends, Chiranjeevi Mandali and other organizations, apart from several leading personalities were part of the procession.

Chandra Mogera, coordinator of Dakshina Kannada unit of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, speaking on the occasion, said that Hindu nation means a country of people rich in knowledge and substance who strive for the welfare of the world. He referred to the meaning of 'Hindu' as given in an ancient work as per which Hindu denotes a person who destroys the darkness of ignorance and quality of aggression. He said that the word, 'secular' was not mentioned in the original draft of the constitution and that the words, 'secular' and 'socialism' were the words added by Indira Gandhi in 1976 through the 47th constitutional ammendment. He noted that the constitutional ammendments have now reached a century mark, and questioned why another ammendment cannot be brought to the constitution to make India a Hindu nation.

Laxmi Pai explained about the goals and achievements of Dr Atthavale, noting that 68,39 lac copies of his 299 works written in 15 languages were published till the year 2017,

Advocate, Chandrashekhar Rao, recollected that once upon a time, India was the imparter of knowledge for the entire world. He said that villages were self-sustaining with dependence on village administration, Gurukul system of education and cows. In Gurukuls, education was imported in 64 subjects. Even sculptors had mastered the art of creating master pieces with their high quality education. Products manufactured within the country was used by the people here, he explained. He noted that foreign countries are adopting study of Bhagavad Gita and Yoga whereas Indians have neglected these things. He gave a call to the people make India the world's Guru again and regain its past glory.
