Bengaluru: Woman police constable beats up male colleague in public

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (RJP)

Bengaluru, May 21: A policeman was beaten up by a woman police constable at the KSRTC bus stand at Majestic on the night of Monday, May 20.

Gangadhar, a stenographer working at the office of the deputy commissioner of police, west division, is the victim. He has filed a complaint before the Upparpet police station against Savithramma, a constable at the southeast division.

Gangadhar says in his complaint that he had taken a bus to go to his native place Pavagada from Majestic at 9.15 pm. Savithramma, who was also on the same bus, began to hurl abuses and caused embarrassment in front of other passengers.

Unable to bear the humiliation, Gangadhar got down from the bus and boarded another bus. But Savithramma followed him and held his collar and dragged him to the platform and slapped and punched him, the complaint says.

Gangadhar tried his best to free himself but Savithramma knocked him down and even tried to strangle him in the presence of hundreds of passengers. Some people then came to his rescue. He immediately phoned Upparpet police but by the time they arrived at the spot, Savithramma had managed to escape.

Preliminary investigation revealed that both were working at the south division and used to quarrel frequently over trivial issues.

They had complained against each other to their superiors several times. Hence, Gangadhar was transferred to the west division a few months ago.

The Upparpet police have charged Savithramma for assault, criminal intimidation and summoned her for questioning.

I presume they both have an old issue and some kind of an misunderstanding together with ego which makes them feel very uncomfortable with each other. I request the high ups within the department to call both of them, make an inquiry and if need be to send them for counselling which will yield good results and enable them to give up the enimosity and work peacefully.

sri-elder ,karkala ,simple reason is he couldnt bear the humiliation as a male from a female in front of other public. He couldnt hit her back, will be again a complain. He did the right thing to escape, but fury was already back of him.God knows what went wrong with these two.whether these two had some affair when one slipped off ?Somehow the woman s action was not to be excused. She must get some slaps from above other wise she still will continue her clowns on him. Here chief must solve it once for all.
