Bengaluru: Legal processes relating to Ravi Poojary's extradition begin

Bengaluru, May 16: Legal processes to consider extradition of underworld fugitive, Ravi Poojary, began in a court at Senegal on Wednesday May 15. The hearing has given rise to hectic activities within the circles of the state police, where discussions are taking place extensively.

A senior criminal investigation department officer said that the state police have put together enough evidences to be able to secure an order for his deportation into India . He exuded the confidence that the request for sending the fugitive back to India would be upheld by the court at Senegal. Ravi Poojary has been claiming himself to be the national of another country and that he is not Ravi Poojary. He was arrested for possessing fake passport.

The official said that the state is confident of securing a favourable order. However,he added that time frame cannot be fixed at this stage for securing Poojary's custody, but confirmed that the state police have furnished enough evidence to convince the court.

Ravi Poojary faces several cases of murder attempt, coercion, collection of protection money etc in Karnataka.
