Bengaluru, Apr 20: In a bizarre incident that occurred near Nandagudi on the outskirts of the city, son and mother got seriously injured when the mobile phone that was kept in the pocket of the trouser by the young son got exploded suddenly.

This incident, which occurred on April 18, came to light recently. Gangadhar was travelling in his bike along with his mother to Andhra Pradesh from the city. When the duo reached Nandagudi on the outskirts of the city, the mobile phone that Gangadhar was carrying his trouser pocket exploded suddenly. Both Gangadhar and his mother, who was riding pillion, were thrown onto the road due to the impact of the blast.

The pedestrians and vehicle riders who were passing by the spot did not help the son and mother who were writhing in pain on the road. Instead, the public was busy making video of the pain and suffering of the duo. Later, some Good Samaritan called an ambulance and both were shifted to a private hospital.

Gangadhar has filed a complaint against the manager of the mobile shop from where he purchased the mobile as well the company that manufactured the handset in the Nandagudi police station.

AP is a hot place. Lithium Ion batteries have a limitation to ambient temperature. Also if you carry the phone in the back pocket then it's calling for trouble. There is a possibility that the separator between anode and cathode of the battery may get damaged resulting in a fire or explosion.

Filing complaint against the manager of the shop from whom he had bought the phone!
Did he read in the booklet in fine print how to use the device, why not to keep it in trouser pocket which might exert undue pressure on the device, did he record the ideal temperature for the device to use safely?
If the answer is No, then he should file the complaint against the company that manufactured the device, which might help him get a new one or give him compensation if only he had not broken their advisory.

We are in a digital and modern world. This invention of mobile/ cell phones has helped people all over the world. People can talk, and also see one another when they are on the mobile/cell phone. We must thank God for this technology.

    El An Tea, Mumbai,
You are absolutely wrong. It all depends on what kind of mobile phone you are using and under what condition you are using. There may be several reasons. I can just say that both the son and mother recover from their injuries caused by the cell phone.

If you look into the past cases the cell phones that got exploded were all manufactured by reputed Companies. When we change the battery we must strictly get it changed from the Dealer's outlet and not from any roadside Mobile shop.
