Engineering student raped and murdered, hung from tree

Daijiworld Media Network – Raichur (SR)

Raichur, Apr 19: A gruesome incident of cold blooded murder and rape was reported in Raichur district. A burnt body of a 23-year-old young girl was found hanging from a tree in a forest behind the Husukina Hanumantha Temple close to Manik Prabhu Layout on April 15. Accused Sudarshan Yadav has now been arrested for the case of murder and rape.

Madhu Pathara, the deceased, was said to have been raped and burnt to death, and then hung from the tree. It is reported that the incident happened on April 13 and her body was found on April 15 in the forest near her college.

On April 13, her parents approached Sadara Bazar police station since the young woman did not return home after the college hours. Police refused to file the case saying them the missing women is not a minor. Her friends claimed that that she attended classes in the morning and disappeared in the afternoon. Police collected the CCTV visuals that show the woman entering the college but there is no record of her stepping out of the gate.

Her parents said that they approached the police and they were not ready to file a case even after a day of missing "We approached the police once again on the afternoon of April 14. The police said she may have gone away with friends and she would be back. They neglected our complaint," the girl's father said.

On April 15, official from Netaji Nagar police station called her parents and told that they had found their daughter’s body along with a suicide note. In the alleged suicide note, she stated that she was committing suicide because of study backlogs. However, her friend had denied the claim and said it is evidently false because she had cleared all her subjects.

The students came out in protest saying that the suicide was forged and that this was a clear case of murder. "It is very clear that the note was false. She cleared her exams and was happy when the results of the re-evaluation were released on the night of April 12. This is a case of murder and we will not stop protesting until the police conduct a thorough and unbiased enquiry”, a student studying in the institute said.

A massive rage has been evoked since the incident was reported in the media. Social media users have shared horrendous photos with a hash tag asking for justice for the young woman. Hundreds of locals took out a candle march in memory of the girl demanding justice for her family.

The superintendent of police is likely to address a press meet later on Friday.

So sad!! May her soul rest in peace. BETI BACHAO.. BETI PADAO mission of our PM!!! Is there any control on rapes going on every nook and corner of our country? The first culprit in this case is the Police Dept. who refused to register a FIR inspite of repeated requests from her parents. They must have expected bundle of notes for registering complaint. Kick them first then the murderer ... he should be hanged in public.

NO ONE HAS RIGHT TO TOUCH ONE'S BODY WITHOUT THE CONSENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why rapes, murders, physical abuse??? Education is insufficient in our society. We must include moral values for education and must have priority to focus on these subjects more than anything else. Very sad and extremely disappointing!

What a shame , when will all this incidences come to an end, Is there not a proper way to come out of all this shameful
merciless incidences. Why there is not a strong torturous punishment so that there will be a fear among these notorious rascals. Every time a incident happens ,it's been discussed for a day or two n then forgotten till the next incident happens. Why can't the concerned officials deal in a proper way n put an end to this.

This state government is busy in elections. No respect for human beings. Home minister is busy in teaching lesson to his party colleague D.K. Shivkumar and administration is dead. We don't need such a useless government where as CM cries very often showing his inability to rule the state. Hope this student gets justice. Seems military rule is best for India considering how our politicians misuse power and we have seen this during election rallies. We need strong military rule which doesn't spare the criminals.

Moshu..absolutely. I don't see any party here. Governments which fail to protect the people should be thrown out whether it's BJP/Congress/Dal or any other party. By the way why you are singling out BJP? What about states ruled by Congress? So instead of bringing into party politics, we need to condemn.

Very sad and heart breaking and unbelievable that these incidents keep happening repeatedly in our society. The reason is our pathetic justice system which takes 20 years to find someone guilty of murder. All rapists and murders of innocent people should be hanged in public within few weeks if not days so that message goes loud and clear to all such criminals.

@James Belman,I quite agree with you.first hang the police ,and later the accused .Why these police are there to serve people, they get peoples taxmoney, and when people approach in a missing case they are supposed to take up ,submit whether missed one is minor or adult. They are not to judge there, that will be done by lawyers, judges. It seems that they too are involved or recieved some money not to take up?They should be taken as first to task.Put pressure on them. Now a press conference.well we can think what will come out.People shouldnt stop their protest till accused one gets severe punishment and Police too.May be there was a chance for the girl if only police were activ to find her. They had no interest. How sad In such cases why elections?why Police.can save money and self judgement.RIP dear girl.may your soul rest in peace.Heartfelt sympathy to her Family.
