Kasargod: Firing at beauty parlour - three alleged Ravi Poojary aides held

Kasargod, Apr 13: In connection with the incident in which a beauty parlour owned by cine actress, Leena Maria Paul, at Kochi was fired at, a team of crime branch has arrested three persons. They are said to be the accomplices of underworld fugitive, Ravi Poojary.

The arrested accused persons happen to be Bilal and Vipin from Ernakulam, and Altaf from Aluva. The crime branch police said that the arrested accused persons are assumed to be having links with Ravi Poojary. They were hired for the task by a gang based in Kasargod, they added.

While Bilal faces five cases, Vipin and Altaf face a number of criminal cases. The police say that a gang from here had hired the accused to fire at the beauty parlour, for a price of one crore rupees. During the questioning however, the arrested persons revealed that they have got only Rs 30,000 in cash so far out of the promised amount.

Nile Beauty Parlour at Kochi is owned by well-known actress, Leena Maria Paul. A gang of three, which arrived in a motor bike on December 15, 2018, had fired at the beauty parlour. Thereafter, a person who claimed himself to be Ravi Poojary, had called a Malayalam channel to claim that the firing was done at his behest.

During the questioning, the arrested men revealed that the plan was to frighten the actress and coerce her into parting with Rs 25 crore. They also revealed that they had visited this town a number of times to discuss and settle contract price for the firing act.
