Udupi: Raghupati Bhat lays foundation stone for breakwall works worth Rs 16 crore

Udupi, Mar 9: Udupi constituency MLA K Raghupati Bhat conducted Bhoomi Pooja and set in motion construction of permanent breakwall works to stop sea erosion in three places within Udupi constituency costing around Rs 16 crore on Friday, March 8.

The places include Kidiyoor Padukere area costing Rs 9 crore, in front of the houses of fishermen families and families belonging to backward classes in Tenkanidiyoor village costing Rs 5 crore and in Malpe sea shore and near Furtado guest house costing Rs 2 crore.

Malpe fishermen association president Sathish Kunder, Vadabandeshwar ward municipal councillor Yogish Salian, Kola ward member Lakshmimi Manju Kola, Malpe central member Edlina Karkada, Tenkanidiyoor grama panchayat president Krishnayya Shetty, panchayat president Pramod Padukere, local committee president, office bearers, department engineers, contractor Sathish Shet and others were present.

    Please sit and think that we are going against the nature, Sea is meant to flow in its way who we are to stop it..

    Please spend the money to relocate the people who have encroached then land near the sea that's the ultimate solution

    Tetrapods can only be placed where there is a long and shallow sea face like in Mumbai.
    In Mangalore, Udupi and northern Kerala, there is deep sea immediately a few meters from the shore. Permanent wall is the only solution.
    Just a quote from Gandhi.." When you start feeling that the whole world is wrong and you are the only one right, then turn your torchlight towards yourself and look into a mirror".
