There’s greater need to develop Mangalore Junction than renaming it. The station should be converted into a virtual terminal before renaming it as GF Terminus. All south or Kerala bound trains should be diverted to this new terminal in order to avoid crowd and congestion at M’lore Central, which should be reserved for north and east bound trains only.

Name the Konkan Railway Institue for railway staff in Late Mr.Fernande's name and provide additional budget, so that institute can be of International standard.

Although Mr.George was from Mangalore, his served the entire country and just naming an airport of a station is not enough, but the future railway staff and the generations would remember him along with the locals of Mangalore.

Like Pranabda and Kalamji, the government would honor him aptly.

Fernandes worked to create Konkan Railways to develop the coastline and link Mumbai. Instead of naming Mangalore Railway Station after him, a separate zone with HQ as Mangalore in his name is surely welcome. At least his dream to develop coastline will turn true.

George Fernandes was a great statesman and above caste religion politics.Though he was a DK born his activities were confined to Mumbai and elsewhere but he was living his home dist very much. Indore of being a leader of par excellence his last few years were agony painful . Unfortunately our people didn't stood by him openly in n loud voice for the only reason they he was arch hater of Nehru family in general and India ,Sonia Gandhi in particular.
    George was a man conviction.
Let us think and work for a befitting tribute for this son of the soil in a great way.

Whether one believes or not, if not for George Fernandes and his idea to establish Konkan Railway Corporation, we would not be seeing Konkan Railway today. Just like BARC, which is in the name of Homi Bhabha, the father of atomic energy, it is very pertinent to name MAJN in the name as demanded.

Let us look at other names. Airports, Railway stations are given Shivaji name, who had never seen or heard of railway or airline in his life time. His mother was not educated much. But, the most famous Victoria Jubilee Technological Institute is named after her. I have respect for Shivaji, but to give their names where it is impertinent, does not look reasonable.

This present demand is justified and very relevant.

Without any hesitation or second thought I will support this suggestion of naming Mangaluru junction railway station to be named as George Fernandez Railway Station.Good move.Appreciate it. As somebody mentioned in the condolence meeting “George Fernandes was born in Mangaluru, ruled in Delhi and has stayed in the hearts of Indians. He loved his native and kept close relationship with the people of Mangaluru. He was a true fighter, down to earth simple living personality. Being a leader of labourers he served poor and became their voice. He is the great son of India. He kept open his doors for poor and exploited. Now he will be remembered as a role model.”He was a real hero, politician ,fighter and will b remembered for ever.In Bombay (now Mumbai) he only fought for the rights, protection of many hotel labourours, who had been migrated to Bombay from the coastal region for their livelihood and Fernandez started union for the hotel workers and gave freedom to them to work freely under the torture of hotel owners and live respectably.Apart from this,he was holding many other unions safeguarding the interest of labors.
