Bengaluru, Jan 14: The information obtained through RTI act that ministers ruling the state are spending lacs on chairs and other furniture when poor people in the state are struggling for one meal a day has shocked people.

Rs seventy lac was approved for renovation of the room of Dr G Parameshwar in Vidhana Saudha after a month he was appointed as the deputy chief minister. The government order for the renovation was obtained for room No. 327 and 328. A notification from the PWD was released for the purpose. But the PWD states that no renovation has taken place so far in the room of Dr G Parameshwar. Rs twenty lacs are spent for table, chair and carpet. The remaining renovation work is yet to be taken up.

The chief minister is trying to reduce the amount provided for programmes such as Hampi festival. RTI activist Marilinge Gowda has raised questions about it. “What is the need to get exemption from KPTT act? Is it necessary to renovate the room of deputy chief minister using public funds? The chief minister should respond,” he said.

Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwar was not available for comment.
