Over 28,500 Indian workers died in Gulf nations since 2014

New Delhi, Dec 12 (IANS): A total of 28,523 Indian workers died in the six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries from 2014 to 2018, the government said on Wednesday.

In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for External Affairs V.K. Singh said that while the highest number of 12,828 Indian workers died in Saudi Arabia during the period, 7,877 such workers died in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), 2,932 in Kuwait, 2,564 in Oman, 1,301 in Qatar and 1,021 in Bahrain.

The Gulf nations are home to a large expatriate Indian population and many of them are blue-collar workers in the infrastructure sector.

Singh stated that Indian missions and posts have specialised community welfare wings and labour wings in these countries with large numbers of Indian workers.

"In addition, the government has launched an online portal called MADAD for addressing the grievances of Indian nationals abroad," he said.

"The MADAD portal is regularly monitored in our missions and posts at various levels, thus giving high priority to grievances of Indian workers," he added.

This is outrageous! Poor Indian citizens are getting killed in thousands as if it's nobody's business. I wonder why Indian government did not act on this till now.
Our politicians are only interested in how to win elections and how to amass maximum wealth in a short period of time as the next term is not certain most of the time.

Such serious and concerned news was not relayed in the electronics media or print. Only news we get that very few Indian workers have rescued from clutches of Arabs illitreatment. , that too with help of social organization of Indian workers abroad. But our external affairs minister giving vide publicity for such news as it is only happened due to their effort.
So far rescue of any Indian citizens abroad the present government was taking credit,But a high figures 28500 Indian died abroad was disclosed by the government for question asked in parliament.
It is also very important news to the people of India who seeks employment in gulf countries.

We would have found out why and how they died, if they were cows. Unlike Americans, we are not interested in welfare of our citizens. Big chunk of our political leaders are goondas and criminals and what do you expect from them?

Such a big number all workers met death for some reason or other. These people really need global attention because everyone born on this earth has right to live. How could anyone build death trap for some one in search of proper placement?

Miserable working conditions, low salary, ill health and searing temperatures have been cited as the most common reasons behind the deaths of Indian workers in Gulf countries.

Very sad story indeed to learn that 28500 Indian expatriates lost their lives in Saudi Arabia as well as in the G.C.C. countries from the year 2014. These 28500 Indians must have been attached to more than 100000 family members situated in different parts of India who are grieving for the untimely deaths of 28500 of their family members destined to die in the Persian Gulf region. What a sad story that we wish we had never heard because it is pathetic that these poor people many of them must have died on account of overwork and lack of reasonably good housing facilities.

    May God help us all.
