Mangaluru, Nov 21: Three sisters namely Sr Anitha Shaila Veigas, Sr Priya Mariette Pinto and Sr Sujatha D'Souza, of the Congregation of Sisters of Charity of Mangaluru Province made their perpetual profession on November 21 November at Guardian Angel Church, Angelore.

It was a significant day of commemoration of Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and day of Foundation as well of the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Saints Bartolomea Capitanio and Vincenza Gerosa. On this day 21 sisters from Asia and Africa made their final commitment.

Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangaluru officiated the eucharist along with Fr William Menezes parish priest and other priests. The bishop preached a meaningful homily on religious life and its three fold mission: prophetic, priestly and pastoral.

Sr Matilda Monteiro, the provincial superior accepted the vows of chastity, poverty and obedience in the name of the church. Each sister was then given a crucifix as a symbol of permanent membership in the religious community. During the Litany of Supplication, all implored the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the saints, while asking God to pour out His mercy upon the sisters so that they might be forever strengthened in their religious vocation. This solemn celebration was witnessed by their parents, relatives, sisters of the province, well wishers and friends.

The three were felicitated after mass. Sr Matilda Monteiro in her felicitation message thanked their parents for their generosity and asked the sisters to live upto their commitment according to the charism of the congregation by becoming a visible sign of God's merciful love in today's world. Sr Nancy Mathias compered the programme.
