Sullia: Canteen worker drowns in rivulet when bathing

Sullia, Nov 18: Veeresh (26) from Mallapur in Hoovinahadagali in Ballari district, who was working in a canteen near Adi Subrahmanya temple here, drowned in Darpanateertha rivulet when taking bath on Saturday November 17 after he accidentally slipped.

Veeresh had arrived at Subrahmanya seeking work a few months back. He was working as coolie for some time before joining the said mini canteen on regular basis. Saturday was his weekly holiday. He had approached Darpanateertha rivulet for taking bath on Saturday afternoon. When preparing to take bath, he somehow slipped and fell into the rivulet. Although those near him immediately brought him out of water and provided treatment, he had died by then.

Veeresh, it is learnt, was the only son of his parents. It is said that he was suffering from epilepsy. The marriage of his elder sister was scheduled to be held shortly, and he was trying to pool money for the same but death snatched him away before he fulfilled his aim.
