Udupi: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind to hold Prophet Mohammed awareness campaign

Udupi, Nov 14: The Karnataka state unit of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) will hold a state-wide campaign from November 16 to 30 in the city. The date is extended to December 15. This information was given by Akbar Ali, member of state advisory board of JIH at a press conference organized in the city on Tuesday November 13.

Akbar Ali said, "The motto of this campaign is to do away with the suspicion, jealousy and prejudice among people and to grow peace, harmony and humanity. He urged everyone to join hands in this noble deed of knowing each other and amalgamation of hearts.

"The life and message of Prophet Mohammed stand good for all time and generations. His life and achievements are appreciated worldwide by theologists of all religions. There is a great need to convey the message of this great personality and to create awareness. Importantly, in these days of jealousy, violence and selfishness there is an urgent need to develop the message of love, faith and humanity.

"Various programmes are organized at various places in the state as part of this campaign. The books written by renowned litterateur of the land and the views of famous philosophers of this world on Prophet Mohammed will be brought out to the public during this time. Huge conferences, conclaves, exhibitions and social service acts like Swachhatha Abhiyan, planting of saplings, human chain for harmony will be conducted. For students special programmes including essay and quiz competition will be held.

"As part of the same campaign, JIH, Udupi will hold an inaugural meeting, propaganda through vehicles, corner meetings, street plays and public meetings throughout the district. National secretary of JIH Mohammed Iqbal Mullah and state president Mohammed Atarullah Sharief will visit the city on November 29 and during their visit meetings of prominent people and community will be held. From December 7, for a period of one-week exhibition and book fair under the objective 'Maanaviya Maulyagalu Pravadi Jeevanada Belakinalli' will take place in the heart of the city at Expo ground of Jamiya Masjid road. During the same time, special programmes will be held for the public. The valedictory function will be held on December 14 at Townhall in the city."
