Moodbidri: Illegal timber trasportation, forest officials arrest accused

Moodbidri, Oct 24: Forest officials here have arrested two people along with the pick up vehcile in which they were transporting wooden logs illegally. The arrest was made on Monday, October 22, at Kesarugadde, near Belvai here.

Nitin and Sandeep, residents of Padumarnadu are the accused who have been arrested by the forest officials. The value of the confiscated wooden logs is said to be Rs three lac. The accused are arrested and then released on bail.

This operation was carried out under the guidance of Prakash Poojary, forest officer, Moodbidri zone. M N Acchappa, assistant conservator of forests is conducting the investigation. Sub-zone forest officers Ashvith Gatty, Manjunath Ganiga, forest guards Vinayaka, Sandeep and driver Mithun took part in the operation.
