Bengaluru, Oct 22: Personnel of Madanayakanahalli police station near here have arrested a person, identified as Rangachari, for inciting his pet dog, a Doberman, to pounce upon and attack a person working for a travel firm. The incident happened on October 20 relating to dispute on payment of rent, it is said.

It is gathered that Rangachari wanted to settle scores against the victim of the attack relating to some misunderstanding over rent on a building. The building in question is said to be located at Dasnapura in the city outskirts, and is an ancestral property of Rangachari's family. The building is occupied by a travel agency of which Gautam Chand Jain is the owner. Shivaji Singh works for him. Gautam Chand used to pay rent on the building to Rangachari's brothers against the wishes of Rangachari. Angry that he was not getting rent, Rangachari often raised dispute with Gautam and fought with him. Gautam steadfastly refused to oblige, insisting that he would pay rent to the person with whom he had entered into rental agreement.

Shivaji Singh (55), who was at the receiving end of the violent attack, suffered grave injuries and bled profusely. His condition is said to be critical.

On Saturday, Rangachari reportedly entered the travel agency office along with his dog. He vandalized the office. When Shivaji, who was present, raised objections about the way Rangachari behaved, he incited his dog to attack Shivaji, who was attacked by the animal brutally, inflicting deep injuries all over his body. People nearby who heard loud wails of Shivaji, came into the agency office and took him to the hospital in critical condition. Rangachari escaped from the spot.

Madanayakanahalli police later made enquiries and arrested Rangachari and booked him for negligent conduct of pet, criminal trespass, and voluntarily causing hurt, under different sections of Indian Penal Code.
