Canara Catholics Fujairah celebrate Monti Fest

Fujairah, Sep 27: The Konkani Community of Our Lady of Perpetual Church, Fujairah celebrated Monti Fest on September 14. The celebration was held under the banner of Canara Catholics Fujairah, the association of Mangalureans residing in Fujairah.

The solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided by Fr Baptist Rodrigues. In his homily, Fr Baptist urged the congregation to inculcate Mother Mary’s virtues in their life. The mass liturgy and the hymns were beautifully sung by the young children who were well trained by Wilson, Aenson and Arun.



Soon after the mass all went in a procession and showered flowers in front of the statue of infant Mary.The faithful then gathered in the church hall where the new corn was blessed and served hall.

Vincent Barboza, the president of CCF welcomed everyone. He appreciated the efforts of all, especially the committee members in bringing the joy of togetherness among all.

Little children performed a Kannada welcome dance choreographed by Zita D’Souza. Young talents Vian and Larissa entertained the people with their melodious voice. Parish priest, Fr Sagayaraj thanked the Mangalurean community for their continuous support to the parish. ‘Noman Tuka Sodvondarache Maye’ a devotional audio CD by Benny D’Souza was released during the occasion.

Aenson Mathais, semifinalist of GVOM sang beautiful Konkani numbers. Everyone wished Aenson success in the competition.

All enjoyed eating on the banana leaves the delicious vegetarian food prepared by the committee members. Ovina Saldhana rendered the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Melwin Vas.
