Mangaluru, Aug 7: Mangaluru University, department of Industrial Chemistry HoD Dr B K Sarojini inaugurated PG chemistry laboratory here at St Agnes College Post Graduate Centre on Tuesday, August 7.

"This is a great institution. Earlier there were lots of restrictions for girls as they were not allowed to go outside. At that point of time, the inception of St Agnes College helped women to gain education and reach great heights. St Agnes College has given life to many girls. Anywhere in the world, in any profession you can find an Agnesian,” Dr Sarojini said.

“Laboratory is an important part of chemistry, as you get practical training here and will give a student the confidence to face challenges in life. I want the students to utilize this laboratory to maximum extent,” she added.

Presiding over the programme, Principal of St Agnes College Dr Jeswina A C said, "The new laboratory has all the latest equipment. It was a dream for me to have a laboratory in PG block as the students used to visit UG block for practical work which has two labs with limited space.”

“It is not enough to have a laboratory, but students need to be equally passionate and enthusiastic to work in the lab to explore, do projects, experiments and research works. This lab will certainly help the students to carry their practical work with zeal and commitment,” she added.

Sangeetha Mohan was felicitated for securing 96th rank in NET-JRF exam.

“I congratulate everyone for choosing St Agnes College for PG studies. The amount of experience and exposure you get in this college is enormous which helps you excel in your career,” she said.

Head of Chemistry Department (PG) Dr Geetha M Pinto welcomed the gathering. Lecturer Sandhya Shetty rendered the vote of thanks.
