Shivamogga: Hit by private bus, two bike-borne persons killed

Shivamogga, May 17: Two persons who were returning home in a motor bike after visiting the vote counting centre of the assembly election were killed after a private passenger bus hit their vehicle at the bus stand cross at Muddinakoppa in this taluk on the night of Tuesday May 15.

The deceased were Shivashankarappa (60) from Baisavalli Tanda who was riding the bike, and Denya Naik (56), his friend.

Denya Naik was killed instantly as the wheel of the bus crushed his head. Shivashankarappa, who suffered grave injuries, was admitted into a private hospital in the city but he did not respond to treatments and passed away sometime later.

The two had visited the vote counting centre near Sahyadri College in the city, as they were curious to know about the result of the assembly election. They had started their journey back to their village in the late evening by a motor bike, but on the way, a bus hit their motor bike.

A case about this accident was lodged in Kumsi police station. The police who took up investigation expressed the opinion that apparently over speeding and reckless driving on the part of cthe bus driver had caused this accident.
