Mangaluru, Feb 5: Martial arts expert and the chairman of Chitah Jeet Kune Do Global Sports Federation, Chitah Yajnesh Shetty who visited city, conducted a press meet here at press club on Friday, February 5.
Addressing the media persons Chitah Yajnesh said "Sifu Cosmo Zimik, the president of 'Empty Hand Combat International', had invited me to America to honour me for the valuable contributions to ‘Human Welfare’ in martial arts. A huge function was held at Nampa, the largest city of Canyon County, Idaho, USA, where I was honoured by former Mayor of Nampa, Tom Dale. Earlier I was inducted into the 'United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame 2014’ and ‘Sri Lankan Traditional Indigenous Martial Arts Association' (STIMA) and I am the first Indian to have received the honours at ‘Stima Award of Honourable Mission 2014’."
Chitah Yajnesh Shetty is the first Indian martial artist to conduct seminar in USA. The seminar and training programme was held in Idaho, Boise, in which huge number of martial artist participated.
"It was a tremendous response to the technique of Chitah martial art which mesmerised the martial artists of USA. After the seminar, they appreciated by giving Chitah certificate. It is an honour to conduct seminar to the top ranking instructor and masters. They invited me again to visit there in June 2016. They have also gifted me with E1 Visa for the United States, which is given to people with special skills. I have already sent my documents and the process would be complete in the coming 8 months." Chitah Yajnesh Shetty added.
Yajnesh Shetty was born on August 1, 1956 in Ninjur of Karkala taluk. Son of the late Dr Srinivas Shetty and the late Gulabi Shetty, he completed his primary and high school education at Ninjur high school and PUC at Manipal Junior College.
He joined Valley View International Hotel as a waiter soon after his education. Several foreign students studying in KMC were staying there. Among them, Uyi Sensi of China was a martial arts expert. When Uyi practised Karate, Yajnesh would watch and try to learn. He later got a chance to learn Karate under his tutelage.
Yajnesh was attracted by the posture of a cheetah on hunt and studied its movements and assimilated them into martial arts. He developed a unique martial arts style with it which came to be known as 'Chitah'.
He then went to Mumbai in search of greener pastures. Yajnesh Shetty has been teaching martial arts for school children, women, and senior citizens since years. He has even initiated special self-defence techniques as to when and how it can be deployed when they are attacked. Chitah Yajnesh Shetty has trained more than 7, 50,000 women across India, named ‘Nirbhay Women Empowerment Training Programme’. The world famous martial arts teacher has been imparting all types of martial arts training to Bollywood stars since the last four generations. like Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand, Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan,Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Priyanka Chopra, Soha Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor, and their sons and daughter. He has also trained artists in 150 movies.
