Beltangady: Sowjanya case - Dr Heggade writes to CM urging CBI probe

Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady

Beltangady, Nov 4: In order to put all speculations to rest, Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade has written a letter to chief minister Siddaramaiah urging him to hand over the Sowjanya rape and murder case to CBI.

"As per media reports, CID has already submitted its report to the government. However, the people of Beltangady still have certain doubts about the  investigation as well as the report, and are expecting more transperancy and a thorough and detailed investigation into the case," he stated in the letter.

"Hence, I repeat my earlier request and urge the government to order CBI probe into the case," he said.

Copies of the letter have also been sent to the home minister and to Beltangady MLA Vasanth Bangera.

Sowjanya was found raped and murdered near Dharmasthala in October 2012. The demand for CBI probe into the sensational case has gained momentum over the last one month, with various organizations, and political and religious figures joining the struggle. Beltangady has seen a string of massive public meets and protests in this regard, where parents of Sowjanya have personally placed this demand. Places like Mangalore, Udupi, Bantwal and even Bangalore have witnessed protests demanding CBI probe.

The parents of Sowjanya and some local leaders especially Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi had levelled allegations against Dr Heggade's family claiming that his nephew Nischal was involved in the case. However, the CID in its report held Santosh Rao, who was arrested soon after the murder in October 2012, as the accused while giving clean chit to four others, including Nischal.

As per the reports Honorable Heggade had called then home minister R ashok and District Incharge Minister CT Ravi and asked for CBI probe.
What is suspicious is why they are not listening to him. Did R Ashok and CT Ravi knew who did this crime?
Present Siddaramayya Government also did nothing. They have access to intelligence files. They know very well how this case was mismanaged from the beginning. Why the current government is not suspending Yogeesh Kumar and SP Abishek Goyal? If one person opens his mouth, everything comes out.

Just CBI enquiry is not enough, it has to be conducted in a transparent way. All records from US immigration should be disclosed to the public. Photocopy of the passport/visa is not enough.

The CBI probe should also include all other mysterious deaths/suicides/disappearances.

Sowjanya has gone for ever from the face of this earth. She will not come back. Murderers and rapists deserve to sit behind bars and count their days. Everyone knows one mentally unstable person can not do the alleged crime.( She could have easily escaped from him).

    Absolutely right.
According to the doctor- there was no rape!
Then insane person won't kill her to destroy evidence.
In most cases of rape or murders we have seen only known person to the victim would kill after the crime to hide their link to the crime, Santosh was a stranger who never need to cover the crime he didn't commit

One DNA Test would have solved this case, Why they dint do this? which was mandatory. Now any investigation if they do it wont give justice to Sowjanya. Surely this case is not investigated properly from the beginning..

Please watch TV9. All evidences are spoken openly. When there are no evidences police and political parties are begging for that. When they have in public they are not taking any measures. Now that all proof is destroyed, they are coming forward asking for CBI inquiry. One year is more than enough to destroy everything. But God is great. He will surely show the justice in Saujanya and all other who ended their life in brutal peoples hands.

Why the suspect was not found and arrested for the past one year, why there were no DNA test, Medical Analysis, Hair sample, and finger prints. Nowadays it is easy to get hold of the suspect because the government of India has all the information of the people of India through AADHAR Card.

CBI inquiry too will be futile because Karnataka Police and CID together have destroyed all evidences and two crucial eye witnesses have died under mysterious circumstances. So, CBI also cannot catch real culprits.

No Doubt there are master minds behind this case, played their trump cards well & caught a person on to divert this case.If thoroughly dig out this case there is a chance of justice for Sowjanya. Most of the surroundings & SDM mites know this. Even none of the college students didnot go for strike because they thought Santosh was a real culprit. Most of the things are hidden according to sowjanyas parents.

I cannot understand all the colleges went for strike but none of the SDM students didn't come out of the college then in 2012.It would have been solved then all the students came out to road.It is little late for some workouts & evidences for washout this case too.

    Hope justice is done.

I have always seen that Jain (as well as Brahmin) community members live a very disciplined life, they do not generally mingle with irresponsible people. Same applies to their children too, who are raised with strict principles. Outcome is they excel in studies and grace high positions in the society.

I wonder what a brat may this Nischal have been to get into a mess that required his very acclaimed maternal uncle to plea publicly that the lad is not involved in the case.

Let alone his involvement, even the mention of his name in the matter is a disgrace to the family. I wonder what sort of behaviour he commands and who his friends are ! Because it is said that a person is identified by the type of friends he keeps.

    Flavia,

Except for a couple of boys who cut off the banana plantation from a Church Yard (during Church Attacks) to add up to the Saffron gang's misadventures, our children have been collectively angles.

I do not intend to pat our own backs by mentioning it every time but as R. Fernandes mentioned it, there isn't a need for any propagation.

Why should we protest for Sowjanya ?
Was she a medical student? Was she studying in a prestigious institution ? Was she from outside Karnataka? Was she rich ?

NO is the answer for all above questions. Thats the reason no one is bothered about this poor, unfortunate girl. What we can do is to pray to god to give her justice

Dear Heggadeji, better you leave the case to take its own course whether handled by CBI or not. By giving any justification or insisting for CBI enquiry will make people talk more about you whether they talk favorable or opposing you doesn’t matter. But surprisingly, we don’t know why our current government is hesitating to give it to CBI enquiry? No doubt CBI is not an unbiased law enforcing authority yet their investigation may lead to unearth the several loopholes in CID investigation too
