Bangalore: CID report in Sowjanya case within a week, says George

Bangalore, Oct 30 (DHNS): The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is expected to submit in a week its report on the sensational rape and murder of 17-year-old II PU student Sowjanya, according to Home Minister K J George.

The police investigation into the case had been going on for the last one year. The Congress government took up the case “in earnest” and speeded up the probe. The government even “gave in” to the public demand to replace the investigating officer, George said after inaugurating the new building for HSR Layout police station here on Tuesday.

Once the CID submits the report, the government would decide on handing over the probe to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), he added.

Ever since the girl was found raped and murdered on October 9, 2012, at Pangala near Dharmasthala in Dakshina Kannada district, the family has been accusing the police of “shielding” the real culprits. They even contended that Nischal Kumar, nephew of Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Veerendra Heggade, was involved in the crime.

Subsequently, there have been demands that the probe be entrusted to the CBI.

Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake also joined the issue, stressing that it was “not proper” to make allegations against the Heggade. He said Heggade had been engaged in social service for decades and it was “improper” to defame him. “We should look into why a section of people is making the allegations,” Sorake told reporters.

At the same time, he added, the truth should come out. “The CID is investigating the case. If needed, a CBI probe should be ordered,” he said.

Sorake further noted that crimes against young women were on the rise. Referring to a schoolteacher who is being tried for killing 35 women by administering them doses of cyanide, the minister said scores of young girls had been going missing. Hence, awareness campaign had been taken up in places such as Kundapur and Karkala, he added.

Meanwhile, the Lok Satta Party urged the State government to hand over the investigation of Sowjanya case to the CBI. It maintained the CID was unable to dig out the truth.

‘CID biased’

“The CID, which comes directly under the Home department, is highly influenced,” Ravikrishna Reddy, the party’s coordinator, said that in this case, a mentally unstable person has been arrested.” He said people believed the “real culprits had been let scot-free and someone else was made a scapegoat.”

India is one republic. Why different rules in Delhi,Manipal and Dharmasthala? Victim is a victim. Is it because Saujanya from poor family and not a medical student Justice should be delayed or denied? Saujanyas photos and name is everywhere whereas Delhi/manipal victims names were protected. Against injustice to her.

Mr. George, we do not want to hear boasting on Congress performance on this issue. We want justice. CID report will never give justice to dear Sowjanya. What is stopping you from giving the case to CBI ? Why so cold action to give justice to poor people ? We, Kannadigas want justice to our child & not cheating by CID and Police dept. by arresting an insane person to close the chapter. Why no action has been taken against supporter of rapist, SI Yogish ? Forcibly pull out his tongue at least one feet and find out on whose instruction he tried to save the monsters ? Mr. George, no need to wait for biased report of CID. Pleeeeeeeeese give the case to CBI. It is the DEMAND of Karnataka people. Jai Karnataka.

I do not understand why the Congress Govt. is hesitating to give it to CBI? I had a doubt that the Home Minister and the Ministry is harbouring some big fish in this case. This matter hanging fire for the last one year and the response from the authorities like Police, Officials is luke warm.

What was the CID doing for one long year? According to Mr. George, CID report is expected in a week. And if needed, a probe shall be ordered. The case would have been closed long back had there been no public demand. Why a probe should be ordered only if needed? Why the HM is reluctant to handover the case to CBI? I don’t think truth will come out until and unless the case is given to the CBI. Further a special CBI team should be formed comprising some honest well known retired officers.

In any complex murder and rape case either eye witness or scientific evidence only book the culprits. This case involved with influential persons so there is very little scope for the extraction and preservence of concrete evidence.Very sad to know that only one eye witness committed suicide very recently due to extreme pressure.Case is prolonged for one year hence there are chances of fabrication and manipulation of evidences.God only save and protect innocent lives in my country. At this stage CBI also helpless without scientific evidence.Justice delayed is justice denied.Other day I saw her parents crying in front of media.I Couldn't control my tears.Still I believe and keep hopes in investigations and pray God for justice.

Just for a change or by mistake, first time a Congress Leader like Sorake accept that crime against young women on the rising and scores of young girls are going missing. Now everybody knows that K J George is unfit for HM post in State same like Shinde Saab in Central. Congress could have appointed some aggressive HM to tackle the issue on war foot instead they wanted to please someone by giving HM job to person like K J George. When CBI will take over the case? Only after reading CID report? And then they will submit closeout report like they will do in Arushi murder case in Delhi?

This month I watched TV the Documentary on the life of Sowjanya. What a dedicated student in life, committed to family, studies and household work. End part of the story of this documentary made me feel they they have taken wrong culprit into custody. Documentary said 4 were involved in the rape case and the person who was involved is unable to perform this act. JUSTICE SHOULD BE DONE TO SOWJANYA OR IT WILL BE A BIG SHAME. THANKS TO DAIJIWORLD, PLEASE KEEP ON PUBLISHING THIS MURDEROUS ARTICLE TILL JUSTICE IS DONE - JAI HIND. LET THE STUPID POLITICIAN DO SOME GOOD WORK AND LET THEM NOT SHEILD THE CULPRITS.

Mr. George we already know very well what will be the report of Karnataka CID because it is a "Caged-Parrot" of State Govt. So, better make preparation to hand over the case to CBI.
First of all Suspend that Belthangady Police Inspector Yogesh Kumar who destroyed all evidence and prepared false Panchanama to save real culprits. Otherwise he may mislead CBI also.
