AAP appoints lawyer Amit Palekar as Goa convenor

Panaji, May 24 (IANS): In a major reorganization spree, the Aam Aadmi Party in Goa appointed 46-year-old lawyer Amit Palekar as the outfit's state convenor, while also appointing a new state committee.

The appointment of Palekar, who was the AAP chief ministerial face in the 2022 state Assembly polls, was formally announced by the party's Goa in-charge Atishi, in Panaji.

Palekar had, however, lost the contest for the St. Cruz Assembly seat in North Goa.

Rahul Mahambre, who had led the party into the February 14 elections, had resigned soon after the polls. The AAP performed poorly at the Assembly polls, with the party just managing to win two seats in the 40-member state Legislative Assembly.
